Approximately 150km from north to south, the Deux-Sèvres is a diverse region offering stunning countryside, medieval villages, the Thouarsais vineyards made up of six main areas, most famously Le Marais Poitevin known as the ‘green Venice’ of France.

The capital of the ‘department’ Deux-Sèvres is Niort, the gateway to the Marais Poitevin, built around the Sèvre Niortaise river is home to the renowned network of canals set in marshlands, attracting hundreds of tourists each year. The canals offer wonderful experiences amongst nature, such as walking routes, bicycle rides and canal boat excursions.

Additionally, the region hosts many historic sites, such as the Renaissance Chateau de Coulonges-sur-l’Autize, the Niort Donjon or the Commanderie des Antonins all of which are huge attractions to French and international visitors.

Peaceful, close to nature and with a diverse landscape featuring rivers, waterfalls, rocks and natural wonders, the Deux-Sèvres region is a stunning region and a must-see tourist location.
